Last week, Minneapolis was absolutely crushed when state violence took the life of one of our neighbors.
Renee Good was murdered by ICE after weeks of constant harassment and brutality by ICE agents across the city.
But if there’s one word to describe how our community has responded, it’s this: Solidarity.
From vigils and fundraisers, to marches and protests, to neighborhood watches and community organizing, Minneapolis and all of Minnesota has proven that we have each other’s backs. That we keep each other safe, not violent federal agents who don’t give a damn about their fellow Americans.
This kind of solidarity is what frightens MAGA the most.
The White House thinks that because they won the election in 2024, they get to do whatever they want. That America is always on their side. That couldn’t be further from the truth.
The truth is that a majority of Americans of all backgrounds and political leanings are completely fed up with ICE and their agenda of brutality. We are ready to fight back for our democracy. We already are.
And MAGA is clearly scared: Just look at how they trot out JD Vance and Kristi Noem to take the heat for Trump.
It’s our job to make sure that the death of Renee Good, and the plight of everyone who has been affected by ICE, is not forgotten.
In solidarity now and always,
— Ilhan Omar
And P.S., if you want to help send a leader in the movement to Abolish ICE back to Congress, consider chipping in to my campaign for reelection. I haven’t backed down from taking on Trump and ICE before, and I certainly won’t now. But that means we have to be ready for anything our opponents throw our way to try to defeat us. Your donation helps us build a winning campaign. Please, chip in here:
