Nightmarish conditions are taking hold in Gaza as the region is plunged deeper into a cruel winter.

Displaced families are forced to live in flimsy tents in refugee camps. Heavy rains and harsh winter conditions bring disastrous flooding to these camps, sweeping away families’ makeshift shelters and even their children.

Swept away by flood waters, succumbing to exposure, trapped in tents by rapid wildfires — children and their families in Gaza are struggling to survive the winter with what little they have left.

Of 36 hospitals in Gaza, only 18 are even partially functional. This leaves a massive void for an estimated 55,000 pregnant women and the 150 babies born every single day. Brave midwives, aid workers, doctors, nurses, and mobile health clinics are putting their own lives on the line to ensure that hope stays alive.
