Friend — Yesterday I went down to an ICE federal facility in Minneapolis to conduct oversight as a member of Congress and seek accountability as ICE terrorizes my community.

What happened next will not surprise you:

This is a blatant and illegal attempt to obstruct members of Congress from doing their job. And it’s just another example of ICE acting as a runaway, unaccountable, secret police force operating outside of the law.

They don’t answer to Congress. They don’t answer to the Courts. They don’t answer to state officials or law enforcement. And they certainly don’t answer to the American people, who they have harassed, detained, beaten, and shot at on a daily basis.

No, ICE answers only to the President — a personal squad of thugs ready to be unleashed on the President's political opponents.

Just look at how they have refused to cooperate with Minnesota on an investigation into the murder of Renee Good. They care more about protecting their own than seeking truth, justice, and accountability for an American citizen who was killed in cold blood.

It’s fascism, it’s authoritarianism, and the American people cannot and will not stand for it.

If we are to protect our democracy as we slide down this slippery slope, it’s absolutely imperative that we meet MAGA and the far-right in every state and every district across the country with a tidal wave of opposition.
