Imagine sitting in your living room, hearing a knock at the door — and
knowing it could be ICE, coming to take your family, your neighbor, your
friend.
This isn’t just a nightmare… it’s happening right now. Across the country,
ICE is terrorizing our communities, targeting innocent people, and acting
with complete impunity.
Most recently in Minnesota, it turned deadly: a woman was shot and killed
in her car by an ICE agent. In the past year alone, more than 30 people
have died in ICE custody, and federal agents have fired on people 14
times, resulting in at least four deaths.
This tragedy was preventable. Leaders warned this would happen if ICE kept
escalating — and yet, here we are. And even in the wake of this tragedy,
Donald Trump, Kristi Noem, and other Republicans are claiming that the ICE
officer acted in “self-defense," when the video and eyewitness testimony
tell a very different story.
Families are mourning. Children are scared. Communities are traumatized.
The Squad is fighting back. We cannot let this become the new normal — and
we cannot wait for another life to be lost. But we can stop it. Together,
our collective voices can hold ICE accountable and demand an end to these
violent, fear-inducing raids.
