Happy New Year, John!
Welcome to the January edition of The JanePAC Monthly! December gave us reasons to celebrate, and January is already reminding us why this work matters. We’ve got key election updates, inspiring climate wins, and critical news you need to see.
Let's dive in! 👇

🎂 CELEBRATING JANE'S 88TH BIRTHDAY ROAST & TOAST
Last month, hundreds of you joined us for Jane's 88th Birthday Roast & Toast — and what a night it was!
Jane loved connecting with supporters across the country while celebrating alongside some of her dearest friends and our brave JanePAC climate champions.
But the real gift was knowing every ticket supported JanePAC's work to flip the House and elect climate champions in 2026. Thank you to everyone who showed up for Jane and for our climate movement.
Here's to 88 years of raising hell and no signs of slowing down! ✊🌍

🌍 3,200 REASONS TO BELIEVE IN THE CLIMATE MOVEMENT
Last year, The New York Times asked readers to share environmental wins from their communities, and the response was overwhelming: 3,200+ submissions showing climate action is alive and thriving across America.
The submissions ranged from small acts of everyday heroism to community-wide transformations — people rescuing wildlife, planting native species, greening homeowner associations, and building climate-resilient infrastructure.
These stories capture the climate movement at its best: communities organizing, neighbors helping neighbors, people building solutions together. And while Trump dismantles federal protections, that grassroots power becomes even more important.

📅 SPECIAL ELECTION UPDATE
Exciting news from Texas: Christian Menefee, our JanePAC-endorsed climate champion, is leading his opponent by 13 points heading into the January 31 runoff for the 18th Congressional District.
This is our first congressional race of 2026, and a win would send a climate champion who's already defeated Big Oil to Congress.
But with just 3 weeks to go and low runoff turnout expected, every contribution helps reach voters. Can we count on you to chip in any amount you can afford directly to Christian's campaign to help us secure this climate victory in Texas? [[link removed]]

⚠️ TRUMP TAKES "DRILL, BABY, DRILL" GLOBAL
While we're organizing to elect climate champions at home, Trump is exporting his fossil fuel agenda abroad with devastating consequences.
Trump's Venezuela Oil Grab
ICYMI: After seizing Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, Trump announced plans to take control of the country's vast oil reserves — the largest in the world. He vowed that US oil companies would move in, spend billions to rebuild infrastructure, and extract Venezuela's oil to "reimburse" American costs.
Climate experts warn this could produce 550 million tons of CO2 annually — more than the UK and Brazil combined.
“If oil production goes up, climate change will get worse sooner, and everybody loses, including the people of Venezuela…”
– The Guardian, 1/6/2026
The world is already suffering severe heatwaves, storms, and droughts as a result of the climate crisis. Trump's war for oil will only accelerate climate catastrophe on a global scale.

Trump's UN Climate Treaty Exit
Trump just withdrew the US from the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change — the bedrock international agreement every country in the world has signed for 34 years.
America is now the only nation on Earth refusing to participate in global climate cooperation. Think about that for a minute.
UN climate chief Simon Stiell didn't mince words, warning the decision will leave the US "less secure and less prosperous" as climate disasters rapidly worsen.
This is why our work at JanePAC has never been more critical. While Trump isolates America and rewards his Big Oil cronies, we're building a firewall by electing state and local leaders who will protect their communities from his dirty fossil fuel agenda.
