After our one-week free trial of 2026, I’m ready to subscribe to a full year of Trump’s America First policies.
We’re only 11 days into the New Year, and already President Trump is delivering on his promise to make America safer, more prosperous, and healthier in major ways.
This administration took a bold step to increase national security by taking out Venezuela’s illegitimate leader, Nicolás Maduro. This man is a narco-terrorist who sent drugs and criminals into our country to kill and harm American citizens, including children. Let’s not forget, Laken Riley’s killer was from Venezuela, and Maduro shares the blame for her tragic murder. He’s also responsible for fueling this nation’s drug overdose and poisoning epidemic, which kills the tens of thousands of our friends and neighbors every single year, including right here in Georgia. Maduro is an evil individual who already ran Venezuela into the ground and was continuing to dig even further. The criminal charges he now faces in New York are just the beginning of justice being served for his crimes against humanity.
Meanwhile, our Senator Jon Ossoff has remained silent on this issue, begging the question: Does he stand with a narco-terrorist or the Georgia families who want to see Venezuelan drugs and criminals off our streets? We deserve an answer, Senator.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t take time to acknowledge the outstanding work of our military and law enforcement agencies in pulling off this tremendously successful and dangerous operation, without any loss of American life. We have the best and strongest fighting force in the world; no other country could have pulled this off, and I applaud those who braved this mission for their courage and patriotism.
Speaking of bravery, despite being villainized and having violence incited against them by the radical left, our Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are standing up to illegal aliens and domestic terrorists by enforcing the law and protecting our communities against criminal activity. I thank them for their continued dedicated service to our nation, even when their lives are on the line.
Those radical leftists who believe they can disrupt lawful ICE activity, harm agents, and attempt to run them over with their vehicles learned an important lesson this week – there will be a price to pay for your violent, lawless actions.
Under this president, we don’t just have a secure border and safer cities; we also have an economy that is on the rise. The December jobs report, released this week, shows that unemployment rates fell, more jobs were created, and wages are surging, proving that President Trump’s America First policies are working. As Trump’s policies take full effect and we continue down the path of healing from the Biden-Harris tax and spend regime, I am confident that 2026 will bring economic prosperity and more money in Georgians’ wallets. In fact, I can almost guarantee it, because the Working Families Tax Cuts kicked in for the 2025 tax cycle, putting up to $5,000 back in the average Georgia family’s wallet. That’s not just extra money; that’s food on the table, a roof over your head, dollars in your kid’s college fund, and financial peace of mind.
Promises Made, Promises Kept.
The Make America Healthy Again movement scored a big win this week as well, with the Administration rolling out a new food pyramid that’s based on modern nutrition science. The message is as simple as it is effective: Eat real food! Protein, dairy, healthy fats, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains are all part of a well-rounded diet. As a health care professional, I fully endorse this move and thank Secretaries Kennedy and Rollins, along with President Trump, for their commonsense leadership.
Folks, we are on a roll for 2026, and it’s quite literally just the beginning. I can’t wait to see what America First wins are in store for the remainder of the year.

Monday, January 5, 2026: As I begin my 12th year representing the great people of the First Congressional District of Georgia, I am reminded of the honor and privilege it is to be your voice in Washington, DC. For me, the shine has not worn off as I am still excited every time I come to Washington. To serve in Washington is certainly an honor, particularly when you represent the area where you have lived all your life and intend to live the rest of your life. Yesterday, I took the train from Union Station in DC to Penn Station in New York City and met with a group of New York pharmacists to bring them up to date on pharmacy issues being discussed in DC. This morning, I am up early and on set at Fox Studios as I have an interview on Fox and Friends First to discuss to discuss the situation in Venezuela and politics. Later, I am a guest on the Brian Kilmeade radio show on Fox as we discuss a number of issues with Venezuela being the main focus of the interview. Afterwards, I head to the studios of Newsmax nearby as I am live with Shaun Kraisman as we discuss - you guessed it - Venezuela. After a meeting, I head back to our hotel and have a virtual interview with Atlanta First News regarding Venezuela before having a virtual interview with WSB-TV to discuss Venezuela. Rep. Carter on Fox Business Tuesday, January 6, 2026: I’m back at the Fox Studios this morning as I join Maria Bartiromo on the set of Fox Business’s Mornings with Maria to discuss Venezuela and news of the day. After a meeting, I join in on our all staff conference call before joining in on a call with our district team call and then head to Penn Station for my return train trip back to Washington. Once back in our office on Capitol Hill, I meet with representatives from ChatGPT to discuss their new health programs they will be rolling out this week before meeting with our scheduling staff followed by our legislative staff and finally our communications staff. Next, I head to the House Chamber for our first vote series of the week and afterwards head off Capitol Hill and join the Main Street Caucus for a meeting with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA). Today has been a very difficult day for many of us in the House as we have learned of the sudden and unexpected death of our colleague, Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) in the early morning hours, and that another colleague, Rep. Jim Baird (R-IN) and his wife have been involved in a serious car crash and are in ICU in an Indiana hospital. Rep. Carter on Fox Business Mornings with Maria Wednesday, January 7, 2025: I’m live on the radio with my good friends in Jesup on the world famous Butch and Bob show as we discuss Venezuela and news of the day. Next, I head to a Meet the Cabinet series that has been set up by Republican leadership where our guest this week is my good friend VA Secretary Doug Collins. Doug and I served together in the Georgia State House of Representatives and also in Congress for many years. We are very proud of Doug and the work he is doing with our Veterans. Afterwards, I head to our weekly GOP Conference meeting before heading back to our office, where I meet with representatives of Chemo Mouthpiece, a medical device used to treat mouth sores of patients undergoing Cancer treatments. Next, I meet with Medicus, a company that manufactures an innovative skin cancer treatment for non-melanoma skin cancers, before heading to the Congressional Visitors Center (CVC) for a classified members only briefing on the Venezuela operation, referred to as “Operation Absolute Resolve.” During the briefing, we are given a review of the exercise and hear of the legal charges against Nicholas Maduro by a number of cabinet members, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and Attorney General Pam Bondi. After the briefing, I head to a meeting of the conservative Republican Study Committee (RSC), where we hear from my good friend, political commentator Scott Jennings, and then head to an Energy and Commerce (E&C) Energy Subcommittee hearing on nuclear energy. Once back in our office, I meet with our White House liaison Joe Ballard, before heading to the House Chamber for our first and only vote series of the day. Afterwards, I head off Capitol Hill for a meeting of the Southern members of Congress. Rep. Carter meets with Medicus Thursday, January 8, 2025: Our guest this morning at our weekly GOP Doctors’ Caucus meeting is the U.S. Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA), Georgia’s own Kelly Loeffler, who brings us up to date on what the SBA is doing to help small businesses in healthcare. Once back in our office, I have an on-camera interview with my good friend John Fredericks as we discuss news of the day. Afterwards, I head to an E&C Health Subcommittee hearing where we discuss pending legislation before heading back to my office. Later, I speak at a pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) reform hill briefing, where about 50 pharmacists from around the country have been brought in by different associations to discuss PBM reform. Afterwards, I head to the House Chamber for our first vote series of the day and afterwards head to the Cannon Caucus room, where the Republican Conference has arranged a media row of various outlets for members to speak about the 2026 Republican agenda. Next, I head back to the House Chamber for our second vote series and afterwards pay tribute to Sonny Morris, a Winder, GA, city councilmember who is retiring after serving for 40 years on the city council. Staying in the House Chamber, I participate in a special order in honor of Rep. Doug LaMalfa, who was a good friend of mine and who I will miss tremendously. Rep. Carter at Doctor's Caucus Friday, January 9, 2025: I’m back in the House Chamber first thing this morning as I speak on HR 5184, the Affordable HOMES Act that will remove duplicative manufactured housing regulations to help restore the American Dream of homeownership for millions of families. After heading to an E&C member meeting to discuss next week’s committee schedule, I head back to the House Chamber for our final vote of the week before heading back to our office to film this week’s edition of Buddy’s Briefing. Next, I have a live virtual interview on Fox Business with Stuart Varney to discuss the situation in Minneapolis and legislation that I have introduced, the Fraud Accountability Act. After a virtual meeting with our office consultant, I head to the airport for my flight to Atlanta and during the drive have a conference call with our District Director and Chief of Staff, and also face-time our Air Force Academy principal nominee, James Kennedy of Glynn County, to let him know he has been chosen for the nomination and congratulate him.
