This is Lacey Schwartz Delgado, Antonio’s wife. I know you all have heard from me in the past about why Antonio should be the next governor of New York State. Today I am reaching out for a slightly different reason. I want to tell you why the historic opportunity we have to become the first NY statewide campaign to qualify for public matching funds means so much to me. 

For many years, I kept politics at arms’ length primarily for one reason — I detested how money played out in politics. But in 2017, we made the decision to change our family’s life for us to get involved in politics with Antonio running for congress.  But in order to stay true to our principles, we made the pledge from day one to not take corporate dollars and instead funded our campaign from real people. To this day we have never accepted corporate funding. 

Nine years from that first decision, we are being given an opportunity to forge another successful election that takes these principles to the next level - we have an opportunity to make history by having Antonio be the first NYS Governor to have never taken $1 of corporate PAC money AND to be powered by public matching funds.

This is the first year there has ever been a New York statewide public matching funds program and Antonio is the first gubernatorial candidate to opt into this  program. Every contribution between $5 and $250 from a New York resident is matched 6-to-1, which means $100 becomes $700 and a $250 gift becomes $1,750.

But, to unlock matching dollars we need to raise $500,000 from 5,000 New York residents by this Sunday, January 11th’s public fundraising deadline.

I am writing to personally ask you to be a part of this historic moment in 2026 and donate today! By donating you can help us reach our fundraising threshold to unlock public matching funds, so we can be beholden to the people, not corporate donors. 

Imagine it — a new generation candidate powered by public dollars winning against a candidate who has been in politics for over 20 years and has been bankrolled almost solely by the wealthy donor class and corporations… This can very much be a reality. 

We are 90% of the way to our goal. To reach our thresholds and unlock $3.5 million in matching funds, we just need a few of you to donate up to $250 by Sunday, January 11th. You are getting this email because we believe you are someone who can help us achieve this goal.
