Becoming an American citizen was the proudest day of my life.
I didn't take it lightly. I learned the history. I learned the language. And most importantly, I understood that I was joining a nation, not a country club.
That is why I am so offended by the modern trend of "Dual Citizenship."
We have people today who collect passports like credit cards. They treat American citizenship as just another "membership" in their wallet. They want the rights of an American, but they refuse to give up their allegiance to their old country.
It is an insult to every immigrant who did it the right way.
I didn't come here to be a "Colombian American." I came here to be an American.
My bill, the Exclusive Citizenship Act, restores the dignity of our flag. It says that if you want to be part of this family, you have to be 100% committed.
We don't need part-time patriots. We don't need summer-home citizens.
I am fighting to protect the value of your citizenship. The Left calls me "intolerant." I call it patriotic.
If you agree that being American is an exclusive honor, stand with me.
