Maduro Will Face Justice

Last year, hundreds of thousands of Americans died because of drugs that came into this country through people like narco-terrorist Nicolas Maduro. They’ve flooded our country with deadly drugs, killing innocent Americans and destroying families. Maduro, who is an illegitimate dictator, and his wife were rightfully indicted in U.S. courts for their heinous crimes.

President Trump said we're going to stop those deaths from happening. We care about every family that has seen loss from fentanyl death or cocaine or heroin overdose. President Trump took decisive action to put America first and protect the American people by pursuing an arrest warrant for Maduro and his wife.

The Trump Administration has been clear - if you harm Americans there will be severe consequences. I look forward to seeing Maduro face the full force of the American justice system.

Delivering Flood and Hurricane Protection for Louisiana 

This week, the House passed an important appropriations package that funds critical projects across the nation to strengthen our infrastructure to keep our economy growing, make our communities safer, and restore our energy dominance. My top priorities in this bill are hurricane and flood protection, and the bill we passed includes critical funding I included for Morganza to the Gulf and additional flood protection projects across Southeast Louisiana, which will better prepare our communities and protect the lives and livelihoods of the families who live here.

Lowering Housing Costs and Restoring the American Dream

A key component to the American Dream is homeownership, but recently for many that has been out of reach because of a burdensome and confusing regulatory process that makes it harder for homebuilders to construct affordable homes. We need to be lowering the costs of housing wherever we can, not raising housing costs with redundant and confusing regulations and pricing families out.

This week, I proudly voted for the Affordable HOMES Act to streamline the process for setting energy standards to help lower manufactured housing costs and increase housing affordability for hardworking Americans. This legislation, which passed the House, will cut the red tape and make housing more affordable for every American.

2025 Congressional App Challenge Winner 

As a former computer programmer, I’m proud to see students of Louisiana’s First Congressional District take a creative interest in technology and put their skills to the test to solve real-world challenges. I’m pleased to announce Arav Gandhi from the Haynes Academy for Advanced Studies in Metairie, La., as the 2025 Congressional App Challenge winner for Louisiana's First Congressional District.

Arav created AIR Poker, an app designed to help individuals manage gambling addictions by reimagining the card game as a tool for recovery to help manage emotional regulation and offer a responsible play habit. Congratulations to Arav for his hard work and commitment to helping others with his gambling addiction recovery app.
