John,
Donald Trump’s actions in Venezuela last weekend were illegal and
unconstitutional, with no authorization in Congress, and no plan for what
comes next. But unfortunately, if he gets his way, Venezuela won’t be the
end of it.
Trump and members of his administration are already threatening other
nations with military action, including Greenland, Mexico, Colombia, Cuba,
and Iran.
It’s clear that he lied when he said he’d put a stop to endless wars and
focus on making life affordable for people here at home.
The truth is Congress, not the president, has the sole power to authorize
war. Right now we need Republicans to step up, do their Constitutional
duty, and join Democrats in ensuring that Congress reasserts our
authority.
I’m fighting to rein in this abuse of power and make sure Congress does
its job before more lives are put at risk and more taxpayer dollars are
wasted on endless wars that do nothing to make us safer. But I can’t do it
alone.
I don’t take corporate PAC money, and I don’t rely on billionaire donors
to fund my work. Everything I do is powered by grassroots supporters like
you.
