They are not letting up: Trump just announced four more awful nominees to
federal courts.
And no — this isn’t about “merit.” His picks include…
* A Ted Cruz loyalist fresh off the Senate Judiciary Committee;
* A judge so notorious he once handled nearly a quarter of all U.S.
patent cases in his own courtroom — drawing bipartisan outrage given
that some individuals and companies made money by filing these
lawsuits;
* A right-wing lawyer who backed Trump’s crusade against diversity in
STEM fields and led a conservative assault on class action lawsuits.
Perhaps more importantly than their so-called qualifications is that they
were all selected because they are personally loyal to Trump, not the
Constitution.
When Trump breaks the law, he wants judges who will look the other way.
When he abuses power, he wants judges who will rubber-stamp it.
It’s the Senate’s job to reject these crony nominees. But some Democrats
have been voting for them. We need to make it crystal clear: there is no
“bipartisan compromise” on packing the courts with extremists.
