John,

Twelfth-grade boys are nearly twice as likely to identify as pro-liberty vs. progressive — in fact, only 13% call themselves progressive.

So why does Generation Z still favor leftism over liberty — by a 48-to-33 margin?

The answer is: Girls Gone Woke

Only 12% of twelfth-grade girls identify as pro-liberty. The share of 12th-grade girls who identified as progressive rose from 19% in 2012 to 30% last year.

This is bad news for relationships and future birth rates. But given that women tend to register to vote at higher rates than men — by a margin of almost 10 million — this is bad news for the country. So, before you start thinking about repealing the 19th Amendment, I’ve got a far more revolutionary proposal.

Get girls to read Ayn Rand. One doesn’t have to be an Objectivist to recognize that Rand’s novels have historically been the most effective “gateway drug” to liberty — or why CATO Institute co-founder Ed Crane called Rand “the all-time greatest recruiter for the liberty movement.”

Moreover, when it comes to the market for young fiction readers, once again, it skews female.

What else might magnetize young female readers to Rand’s novels? Well, for one thing, they’re filled with inspiring female protagonists — women who run railroads, engineers, journalists. Then there’s the romance and the celebration of masculinity and femininity as distinct ideals. And, of course, for all those young women who’ve ever struggled with boundaries, there’s the bracing defense of self-interest.

To capitalize on this opportunity, The Atlas Society is pioneering innovative approaches to market Ayn Rand's literature and ideas.

We're leveraging mediums that resonate with today's youth, such as graphic novels and animated videos. By combining philosophically rich content with dynamic visuals and compelling narratives, we aim to make Rand's philosophy vibrant and tangible to a new generation.

Did you know that the number of young people reading books for fun on a daily basis has dropped drastically in the last fifty years?

Fifty years ago, 70% of young people read books every day for fun. Any guesses on what percentage do today? Brace yourself: it's only 12%.

But here's something interesting: studies have shown that more and more young adults are getting hooked on graphic novels. To reach the next generation, we need to meet them where they are. The Atlas Society understands this, and we're finding new ways to share Ayn Rand's message.

We mix complex ideas with beautiful illustrations and exciting stories. This way, we can make Rand's ideas clear and interesting for young readers.
