Hi John,
This week House Democrats successfully forced a vote to extend the
Affordable Care Act subsidies that Republicans allowed to expire on
January 1st. Thanks to overwhelming pressure from voters who are seeing
their insurance premiums double or even triple, the bill passed in the
House of Representatives.
Now the fight moves to the Senate, where Republicans will have to decide
whether to extend these health care subsidies to keep costs from rising
even further.
But even as their own constituents struggle with higher premiums, nine
House Republicans in Swing Left’s target districts for this year’s
midterms voted against extending those health care subsidies:

Here’s why this matters. Every one of the Republicans on this list is
vulnerable. They represent swing districts where Trump won by a margin of
6.5% or less in 2024, or that have a Partisan Voter Index of R+3 or less
(meaning they only lean Republican by a narrow margin). These races are
winnable this November.
By investing early, we can make sure the eventual Democratic nominees in
each of these districts have the resources they need to hit the ground
running as soon as their primaries are over.

With the narrowest House majority in almost 100 years, winning the House
is achievable, and essential. Thank you for everything you’re doing to
help lay the foundation for key wins this November.
