Why Our Lady of Prompt Succor?

Mary, under this title, “Prompt Succor” means “quick help” – Mary comes quickly and takes care of any situation!

The National Votive Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor is located in New Orleans, Louisiana. Pope Pius IX authorized public devotion to Mary, under this title, in 1851. In 1894, Pope Leo XII approved the Canonical Coronation of the image. The gold and precious stones on the crowns of Jesus and Mary were donated by the people of New Orleans. The veneration and honor are due to the two miracles through the intercession of Our Lady of Prompt Succor that took place in 1812, when a terrible fire that raged through New Orleans spared the convent and in 1815, when the Battle of New Orleans was won.

You can ask the Blessed Virgin Mary for protection and “quick help” too!

TheThree Holy Masses will begin on Tuesday, January 13 and end on the Traditional Feast Day, January 15.
