Dear MoveOn member,
Donald Trump is failing the American people.
Instead of focusing on the very real problems facing communities—like helping people afford groceries, rent, or health care—Trump is escalating military aggression overseas.
After U.S. military forces invaded Venezuela last week and captured its leader, Trump this week openly bragged about his plans for an indefinite occupation of the country.1
When five Republican senators voted to advance a bipartisan resolution limiting his unchecked military action, Trump lashed out, writing that they "should never be elected to office again"—a chilling attempt to bully Congress into letting him escalate without oversight.2
Americans do not want—and cannot afford—another protracted overseas conflict that drains resources from our communities.
Americans need health care, not warfare. That's why, immediately after Trump's incursion into Venezuela, MoveOn launched a powerful, rapid-response "Health Care Not Warfare" campaign, starting with mobile billboards in Washington, D.C.
Now, we need to take our campaign nationwide. Will you chip in $9 to help to expand our billboard campaign? Please. With your help, we'll keep pushing Congress to do its job and block Trump's misguided—and deadly—power trip. A resounding majority of Americans—9 in 10 people—agree that Venezuela's future leadership should be decided by the Venezuelan people.3
But while Trump prepares to pour billions into an endless military engagement in Venezuela to secure profitable oil, American families are struggling with skyrocketing costs for health care, housing, and groceries.
Remember, it was Trump and his Republican allies who escalated the affordability crisis by causing Affordable Care Act premiums to skyrocket. And it was Trump whose tariffs and policies caused everyday costs like groceries, energy, and housing to shoot up.
Now, he wants to spend our taxpayer dollars to benefit his billionaire cronies and Big Oil?!
It's the ultimate betrayal to Americans—even many of his own voters, many of whom elected Trump over affordability concerns and because he said he was against endless wars.4
Trump wants to run Venezuela. But he's failing at running our country.
Many are struggling in Trump's economy, but if you can afford it, will you please chip in $9 to help MoveOn urgently build a highly visible and vocal movement against another endless war? (If you have saved your payment information with ActBlue, your donation will go straight through.)
Earlier this week, following the Senate's voting to advance Senator Tim Kaine's (D-VA) war powers resolution, we circulated a mobile billboard around the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., to pressure Congress to rein in Trump.5
Now, we're gearing up to launch more mobile billboards like these across the country to ramp up pressure on key members of Congress.
Please click here to chip in $9, or whatever you can afford, to help us sustain and expand our billboard campaign and organize to demand health care, not warfare! (If you have saved your payment information with ActBlue, your donation will go straight through.)
And our mobile billboards are just the start. We're going to do everything we can to urgently build grassroots pressure to demand Congress block Trump’s military aggression.
Together, we must demand that our leaders prioritize health care, housing, and jobs over oil-fueled conflicts that will only enrich corporations and the ultra wealthy. And we must show that we utterly reject an endless occupation of Venezuela.
Time and again, for more than 25 years, MoveOn members have proven that when we join together to speak up and refuse to back down, we can surmount even the biggest challenges.
Let's do it again now. Together. Will you please chip in $9 and join MoveOn's "Health Care Not Warfare" campaign? (If you have saved your payment information with ActBlue, your donation will go straight through.)
Together, we will turn the tide and ensure that Congress reins in Trump’s authoritarian power grab.
Thanks for all you do.
