Dear Friend,
I wanted to provide an update on the work I am doing in the House of Representatives to represent the great people of Maryland's First Congressional District and to advance commonsense, conservative legislation in Washington, D.C.
Cutting Red Tape to Lower Housing Costs in Maryland’s First District
This week, I voted in strong support of the Affordable HOMES Act, which cuts unnecessary federal regulations that drive up housing costs. The bill removes duplicative energy standards on manufactured housing, making it less expensive to build and easier for families to afford homes. In many parts of Maryland’s First District, manufactured housing is an important option for working families, seniors, and rural communities. By lowering construction costs and reducing red tape, this legislation helps expand affordable housing options and makes homeownership more attainable across our district.
Advancing FY 2026 Appropriations and Delivering Key Wins for Maryland’s First District
This week Fiscal Year 2026 Appropriations continued to make progress with the House passing the FY2026 Energy and Water; Commerce, Justice and Science; and Interior bills. These bills support President Trump’s agenda by curtailing runaway spending all while providing resources for national security, supporting our law enforcement, promoting American energy, and improving our environment.
This funding package delivered several wins for Maryland’s First District, including:
- Dredging for Slaughter Creek, Nanticoke River, North East River, and Wicomico River
- Replacing the Newark Water Treatment Plant in Worcester County
- A Replacement for the Army Corps Dredge Currituck
- Beach Replenishment for Ocean City
- Infrastructure Improvement for Easton Utilities
- Replacing the Town of North East’s Pump Station
- Upgrading Aberdeen, Maryland’s Water infrastructure
- Funding the Chesapeake Bay Program
