While our Red Gala can wait, the needs of children won’t.
AN UPDATE ON OUR 2020 RED GALA
We stepped into 2020 journeying alongside many survivors of child trafficking in their recovery and providing prevention education for thousands of children. The past several months have been focused on holding steady for those children during this pandemic, as well as supporting hundreds of professionals in communities across the country to respond to prevent child trafficking and support youth during the changes.
We know that, together, we’re building a safer world for children. That means continuing to be vigilant in protecting children – while now also doing everything we can to stop the spread of COVID. So in addition to missing many survivor’s graduation gatherings and final recitals, we’re also incredibly sad to have missed our spring Red Gala in Houston.
This email is to let you know that, while we had rescheduled the event for the fall, we’ve had to make the decision to cancel our 2020 Red Gala.
Not only is the Red Gala our most significant fundraising event of the year, but honestly, celebrating with our supporters is one of the things we most look forward to. Your passion for this work, your heartbreak, your solidarity, your generosity, your high fives and hugs, your gowns, suits, and smiles — to gather with you uplifts us as we persevere together in this difficult work. It’s a night that makes visible the truth that none of us are in this fight alone.
Even if we cannot gather together in one room this year, one of the things that has stunned us is that same solidarity of heart: 100% of our event sponsors have stood with us after news of this cancellation. Still, this is a big financial hit: it's not unusual to see generosity exceed six figures on that night alone. Will you join these sponsors and supporters in ensuring that we can show up for children even if we can’t show up for a gala?
