Catching Up with Quigley: Week In Review

Happy New Year! In the first legislative week of 2026, I recommitted to the fight against Trump's cruelty and for a more just America.

Here are just three of the things I did to represent you:

1. Backed Kristi Noem Impeachment

My colleague, Chicago Congresswoman Robin Kelly, announced today she's going to impeach Kristi Noem. I'm proud to back her in this effort.

Noem is wholly unfit to serve as DHS Secretary. Her cruelty, her lies, and her lack of understanding of our complex immigration system prove this. Just this week, an ICE agent murdered innocent U.S. citizen Renee Nicole Good from Minnesota — with no condemnation from Noem.

2. Secured an Additional $7 Million to Support Domestic Violence Survivors

On Thursday, I voted YES on a bill to increase funding for the Violence Against Women Act by $7 MILLION!

This fall, I pushed for this increase during Appropriations Committee hearings. These funds will help protect more survivors of domestic violence.

At a time when Congress has failed to secure health care and housing for the American people, bipartisan agreements like this one are vital.

3. Called for 'No New Wars' in Venezuela & Elsewhere

I also condemned Trump's drastic actions in Venezuela. Maduro is a brutal dictator, but as a nation, we know that ousting a foreign ruler often makes things much worse. The people of Venezuela deserve to determine their own future — without foreign intervention.

Trump also did not communicate with Congress about this mission, making the operation illegal. The last thing Americans want right now is more foreign wars.
