John – The
president’s ongoing attacks on the press and free speech are putting our
First Amendment rights in grave danger.

For the first time in a generation, we have censorship of the press.

Not because the government prohibits the publication of offending
material.

But because the administration coerces and dangles corrupt incentives like
help with billion-dollar mergers.

And large corporations with media holdings have decided to self-censor to
appease a wannabe dictator.

This is how democracies die.

Most recently, CBS News pulled a 60 Minutes segment on Trump deportations
— preemptively trying not to anger the President while their parent
company tries to purchase Warner Bros. Earlier this year, my friend Jimmy
Kimmel’s show was pulled from the air, only to be restored when the public
outcry became too great. The Trump administration has gone after the New
York Times, Wall Street Journal, and other outlets.

This is dangerous — and we need to do everything we can to reverse this
dangerous course and work toward making free speech the norm, not the
