John,
We all saw what happened with our own eyes. An American citizen was shot — not once, not twice. Three times. There are slow-motion videos showing the reality of this horrific scene all over social media, and yet Trump, JD Vance, and Kristi Noem are telling lie after lie about ICE’s actions, trying to wipe this away and undermining trust in our government.
ICE is carrying out violent raids across the country — storming workplaces and neighborhoods, sweeping people off the street, and arresting anyone they assume doesn’t hold legal status. And Americans are living in fear that an ICE agent could attack with lethal force at any moment.
They don’t even care who gets hurt:
And Trump’s cruelty doesn’t stop there. He’s deporting our friends, co-workers, and neighbors, and now wants to strip naturalized Americans of their citizenship. It goes against everything this country is supposed to stand for.
John, Trump is allowing ICE to kidnap U.S. citizens, recklessly use deadly force, and then lie to cover up their lawlessness.
It’s unacceptable, and the entire administration, including the agents in question, needs to be held accountable. That means conducting independent investigations, prosecuting these cases to the full extent of the law, and cutting funding for the agencies in question until reforms are made.
I know what it means to fight for a place at the table because I’ve lived it. That’s why I’m relentless about standing up for immigrants, workers, and families who deserve real representation and real results.
Because this administration’s actions aren’t about community safety. They aren’t about removing criminals. It’s about targeting immigrant communities, manufacturing chaos, and tearing families apart to fuel Trump’s authoritarian agenda.
In solidarity,
Pramila Jayapal
