Washington, D.C. – This week I was back in D.C. and looking forward to another year of serving Texas-24!
We started this week at a policy retreat with my House Republican colleagues, where we heard from President Trump about the progress we made in 2025: from delivering historic tax cuts for American families, small businesses, and seniors, to securing the border, and unleashing American energy! Now, we're looking forward 2026 and passing reforms to further lower costs for American families while expanding wage growth, job opportunities, and our nation's prosperity!
On Tuesday I was heartbroken to learn of Rep. Doug LaMalfa’s passing. Doug was the nicest, sweetest, most loyal friend, colleague, and public servant. I will miss his smile and, “hey, Daisy!” Please join me in continuing to pray for his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
Wednesday, the Small Business Committee met for our first hearing of 2026 where we heard from the SBA Office of Advocacy, and how they are cutting red tape under the Trump administration. You can view my questioning of the witness here, or by clicking on the photo below.
Later that afternoon, as the Republican Study Committee Budget and Spending Task Force Chair, I was pleased to release our annual budget proposal, continuing a decades-long tradition of providing a serious roadmap for fiscal responsibility. Read more in my Work of the Week.
On Thursday, Korean American Day was held at the Capitol. I enjoyed speaking with everyone in attendance about the tremendous relationship between Korea and the U.S., and also how valuable Korean businesses have been as trading partners and manufacturing developers in our great state of Texas.
That afternoon, following the momentum of dropping our RSC budget the day before, I hosted the RSC podcast with my friend, Rep. Aaron Bean! Stay tuned for an episode you will not want to miss!!
It was great to attend our first media row of the year where I discussed many of the big wins we delivered in 2025 and how we are carrying that momentum into 2026.
Always great to see Riley Gaines, she has courageously been leading the fight to save girls’ sports!
This morning, I voted on the HOMES Act, which cuts burdensome federal regulations and makes homebuilding affordable for families and communities by eliminating the Department of Energy’s authority to regulate manufactured housing energy standards.
On Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, I wanted to say thank you to all the brave men and women who serve our communities and keep us safe every day. We are thankful for our law enforcement officers across North Texas for their commitment, service, and sacrifices they make to protect and serve others.
