John,
I want to tell you about an opportunity that could help decide what happens in Texas this November.
Senate District 9 is Trump country. He won it by 17 points. For years, Republicans assumed it was locked down and untouchable… but something just changed.
Democrat Taylor Rehmet forced a runoff in SD9. In fact, he earned more votes than the leading Republican he was running against. Now we have a real shot in a district Trump carried comfortably. This is the opportunity in front of us, John.
We’re not waiting for the “perfect” districts or ideal conditions. We compete everywhere because expanding the map is how Democrats win statewide.
When we win in places Republicans take for granted, we change what’s possible in November.
But this election for SD9 in Tarrant County is going to be a tight one. Taylor got 48% to win a place in the runoff. The next 3% are going to take everything we’ve got.
Every voter registered, every volunteer shift, every real conversation can make the difference. This will come down to turnout—and whether we invest now in the work that actually moves people to the polls. That’s where you come in.
Your support makes the organizing possible. Things like recruiting and training our volunteers; helping eligible Democratic voters request ballots by mail; and activating the young and first-time voters that we’ve helped register. If we win in SD9, it means we can win in some of the toughest places in Texas. And those victories could contribute to a statewide shocker that could decide the balance of power in the U.S. Senate.
Thank you,
Beto O’Rourke
