John,
Less than a mile from where George Floyd was killed, another armed agent of the state took a life and is still free. Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen, mother of three, poet, and musician, was shot and killed by an agent of U.S. ICE on a residential street in Minneapolis. This is not an abstract policy failure. It is a killing, in public view, with consequences that demand immediate action.
Federal officials rushed to justify the shooting. The video tells a different story. The agent was not pinned. He was not trapped. He moved into the path of Renee’s vehicle and fired as she attempted to leave amid shouted, conflicting commands. Less-lethal options existed. De-escalation was possible. Instead, the agent chose lethal force and fired into her car, killing her.
What happened next compounds the crime. Footage shows ICE agents blocking a bystander physician from rendering aid while Renee lay dying. For more than thirty seconds, no visible medical assistance was provided.
Minnesota already knows what accountability looks like. Keith Ellison showed the nation that justice is possible when he prosecuted the officers responsible for George Floyd’s murder. That proved a badge does not grant immunity and that the law applies even when power resists it.
Urge Attorney General Keith Ellison to immediately arrest the ICE agent who killed Renee Nicole Good and show the country once again that no one is above the law.
Arrests do not require waiting years when probable cause is already visible. In homicide cases across this country, suspects are arrested first and investigated fully after. That is how justice works. ICE agents do not get a separate legal standard simply because they are federal.
Failure to act now would send a dangerous message that federal agents can kill civilians in broad daylight and walk free while families are told to wait.
ICE has become a parallel police force operating with military equipment, political cover, and near-total impunity. Its violence drives communities out of public life and erodes democracy itself. A system that cannot hold its own agents accountable is a system that threatens everyone.
Justice delayed here is justice denied everywhere. Arresting this agent is the minimum step toward accountability and the clearest signal that Minnesota will not tolerate state violence hiding behind federal power.
Call for the immediate arrest of the ICE agent who killed Renee Nicole Good and insist that the rule of law applies to everyone.
Together, we can fight for accountability and a democracy where no badge is a license to kill.
