 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event
Don't miss out on our Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event! Drop off your hazardous waste at the Service Center (2001 Precinct Line Rd.) on January 10, 2026, from 8-11 a.m. Remember to bring your ID and Hurst water bill!
Accepted Items: Automotive fluids (10 gallon limit), batteries, cleaners & degreasers, cooking oil, lawn/garden/pool chemicals, light bulbs, paint (limit of 3 five-gallon containers)
Not Accepted: Ammunition or explosives, appliances or electronics, building materials, bulk trash and yard waste, butane or propane cylinders, medicines or sharps, tires

 City Facilities Delayed Opening
Non-emergency city facilities will have a delayed opening until 2 p.m. on January 14, 2026 for staff development training. Emergency services will operate as normal.
 Bilingual Storytime: ¡Cuentos y Cantos!

Every 3rd Thursday, come learn and have fun with stories and music in Spanish at Bilingual Storytime! Practice early literacy skills in Spanish. Best for ages 6 and under with a caregiver, whether you're a native speaker or a new student!
Cada 3ra jueves, ¡ven a aprender y divertirte con cuentos y música en español en la hora del cuento bilingüe! Ven a aprender habilidades de alfabetización inicial en español. Ideal para niños de 6 años o menos acompañados de un cuidador, ¡ya hablantes nativos o nuevos estudiantes!
 Martin Luther King Jr. Day Closure
Non-emergency city facilities will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 19, 2026.
The Community Services Department has specialty hours on Monday, January 19:
- Hurst Recreation Center is open normal operating hours (5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
- Hurst Tennis & Pickleball Center is open normal operating hours (8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.)
- Hurst Public Library is closed
- Hurst Senior Activities Center is closed
Trash and recycling is unaffected by this holiday and service normally provided on Monday through Friday will be on regular schedule.
 Daddy Daughter Dance

Get ready to make unforgettable memories with your little princess at the upcoming City of Hurst Daddy-Daughter Dance! The theme for this year's event is "Winter Wonderland," promising a fun-filled afternoon of dancing, a delicious dinner, and exciting activities that will surely make your daughter feel like royalty. The event is open to girls aged 3-14 and their fathers or father figures.
Tickets for the event are now available for purchase online! Dad and daughter couples can attend the event for just $45, while additional daughters can join the fun for just $25 each. Get ready for a night full of joy, excitement, dancing, photos, dinner, and activities that will make your daughter feel like the princess she is!  Middle Madness

Middle Madness is a program designed to get 6-9 graders moving! We'll do a new activity each month, from games to dancing to yoga. Join us on the 4th Thursday of the month.
