Jan 9 – A quick update as a lot has happened this week and there are a LOT of events planned this weekend in response.
First and foremost, like all of you We are outraged by the killing of Renee Nicole Good by ICE. She was a 37 year old wife and mother of three children who loved to sing and studied creative writing and she was shot in the face by an ICE agent. We grieve her death and the deaths of all those killed in ICE detention.
We also know that Ms. Good's killing was not an isolated incident, but the devastating and predictable result of ICE's lawless operations and President Trump’s abuse of power. For months, ICE and CBP have endangered our communities. Our neighbors fear for their livelihoods and their lives, and our communities are less safe – our first big action of 2025 was a. We won’t stand for it.
That's why, to demand accountability for the murder of Renee Nicole Good, and put an end to ICE and CBP raids we’re joining the same coalition that helped organize the No Kings rallies in 2025 for ICE Out, Everywhere, rallies this weekend. Click here to find one of the hundreds of events already planned. Or click here to host one if there’s nothing planned for your neighborhood. You can also check out the host toolkit here for more information. and there’s a quick safety training and legal briefing sponsored by the ACLU tonight, Friday, January 9, 2026 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM ET

A lot of events will include messages about both ending the war for oil and getting Ice Out of our communities. And, of course, you're always welcome to attend more than one event and be as involved as you want to be in organizing. But if you're trying to decide which event to host or join this weekend, consider this: The ICE Out rallies will have bigger crowds, lower risk, but will also not directly confront the people and corporations supporting Fossil Fueled Fascism in the US. The Chevron and Citgo actions this weekend will directly confront the corporations and billionaires behind war and militarized police – but they may be smaller, more militant, and/or include non violent direct action which carries additional risks.
Whatever you chose to do this weekend, we encourage you to center solidarity with individuals and communities already impacted by ICE, violence, and militarism. This could include reading the names of individuals killed by ICE in chants, speeches, and signs. Check out the blog post for a list of names and stories, and check out the host guides above for lots more tips, advice, and facts.
Stay safe and in the streets,
