I love D.C., and I’m tired of watching it be treated like a federal experiment at the whims of Donald Trump.
Since Donald Trump has returned to the White House:
👉 National Guard troops have been deployed without consulting local leaders.
👉 ICE agents have been unleashed in ways that undermine trust and tear families apart.
👉 Members of Congress who don’t live here have overridden local laws with a pen stroke.
That’s not democracy. That’s not freedom.
I was raised in D.C., so I know how deeply federal interference affects real people. It doesn’t show up as an abstract policy debate — it shows up as fear, instability, and a constant reminder that Washingtonians are still treated as second-class citizens.
I’ve spent my career fighting back — first inside Congress, then on the D.C. Council — standing up for local control and the right of our city to govern itself. Now I’m running for Congress to take that fight directly to the source.
This campaign is about freeing D.C. Freeing it from political interference, imposed policing decisions, and a system that denies us the same rights every other American has.
But taking on federal overreach requires a grassroots movement strong enough to stand its ground.
