Email from Rep. Pfluger It was a busy week in Washington to kick off 2026! It was a busy week in Washington to kick off 2026! I participated in the House Republican Policy Retreat with President Trump, hosted Scott Jennings at the weekly RSC member meeting, joined HHS Secretary RFK to celebrate new dietary guidelines for Americans, and introduced legislation to modernize information sharing to track down terrorists or transnational criminals. I also questioned witnesses in a hearing on nuclear energy, had several of my provisions included in the RSC Budget, and joined Mornings with Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business. Below, you'll find a few highlights from the week, including pictures, in-depth updates, and information on how my office can help you with any federal concerns. As always, my team and I are here to serve you, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you need assistance. Best, Gearing Up for 2026 with President Trump No better way to kick off 2026 than hearing from President Trump this week. During his speech, the president highlighted the real results we've delivered to the American people. Americans can enter the new year knowing that they have a secure border, American energy dominance, and will have more money in their pockets this tax season, thanks to the largest tax cuts in history we delivered. I am fired up and ready to keep delivering for Texas-11 this year! RSC Member Meeting with Scott Jennings As Chairman of the Republican Study Committee, I hosted Scott Jennings for our weekly member meeting. Scott is a trusted conservative voice who regularly appears on CNN, where he provides thoughtful analysis and an important perspective on the Trump Administration's policies and priorities. His willingness to engage across the political spectrum makes him a valuable commentator in today's media landscape, and our members appreciated hearing his insights. HHS Policy Celebration on New Dietary Guidelines for Americans I was honored to join Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy alongside my colleagues for a policy review to commemorate new dietary guidelines to make America healthy again. What we eat matters, and putting real food back at the center of our food system is a major step toward building stronger families. This announcement is terrific news for Americans in every corner of the country. Read more about the new dietary guidelines by clicking here or on the image below. Exposing Illegal Trade-Based Money Laundering Before It's Too Late I introduced bicameral legislation alongside U.S. Senator Tim Sheehy (R-MN) to cut off terrorists and transnational criminals at the source, by following the money and stopping it cold. The Trade Transparency Unit Strategy Act will modernize how the United States shares trade data with trusted allies, ensuring law enforcement is fully equipped to find bad actors and expose trade-based money laundering schemes before they bankroll the next attack. In an era of global commerce, this bill ensures that criminals can no longer hide dirty money that threatens U.S. security in plain sight, or worse, let it slip through the cracks. I'm proud to lead this critical legislation alongside a fellow combat veteran like Senator Sheehy, who understands that strengthening international data sharing is essential to equipping our law enforcement to keep pace with evolving threats and keep Americans safe. Read more about the legislation in Newsweek here or by clicking on the image below. Advancing American Nuclear Energy Leadership As a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, I questioned witnesses this week in a hearing focused on advancing American leadership in nuclear energy. As adversarial nations like China rapidly scale up their nuclear capabilities, I made it clear: the United States must move faster and win the race for nuclear energy dominance, and Texas is primed to power that change. RSC Unveils Comprehensive Budget to Restore Fiscal Responsibility This week, the Republican Study Committee unveiled a comprehensive fiscal roadmap that balances the federal budget within ten years by returning spending to pre-pandemic levels. For too long, Washington has ignored the basic math that every American family understands. Families balance their budgets and make tough choices every day. They expect their government to do the same. I was proud to have several of my provisions included in the RSC Budget: DHS Restrictions on Confucius Institutes Act Protecting American Energy Production Act Unlocking Our Domestic LNG Potential Act No Iranian Energy Act LIZARD Act Second Chance at Life Act Prohibit non-citizens from voting in D.C. and repeal the Local Resident Voting Rights Amendment of 2022 Read the full RSC Budget here or by clicking the image below. Law Enforcement Appreciation Day Happy Law Enforcement Appreciation Day! Today, and every day, I am extremely grateful for our brave law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line to protect our communities. As Chairman of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence, I remain committed to ensuring our officers are equipped with the tools, technology, and training necessary to effectively combat evolving threats and protect the American people. ICYMI: Mornings with Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business I joined Mornings with Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business to discuss the importance of sustainable oil prices, repaying U.S. companies for the billions Hugo Chavez stole in unpaid arbitration awards, and a strategic, discounted refill of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) using Venezuelan oil.
