This week, I filed my 53rd lawsuit against the Trump administration in under a year — this time to stop the illegal freezing of more than $10 billion in childcare funding.
This funding freeze was imposed on five blue states: California, New York, Colorado, Illinois, and Minnesota. There is no evidence to justify targeting California — these funds help low-income families afford child care so parents can work or go to school. To needlessly deprive them of this much-needed support is plain cruel.

Look, the American people are sick and tired of President Trump’s lawlessness, lies, and misinformation campaigns.
It is especially pathetic that — once again — his administration’s actions are inflicting harm on the most vulnerable among us.
As a society, we are rightly judged by how we treat our neighbors in need — and this is a shameful way to treat them.
With each passing day, Trump’s “America First” rhetoric is exposed as nothing more than smoke and mirrors.
If he thinks attacking Democratic-led states will silence us, he’s sorely mistaken. California has been fighting back since day one of this presidency, and we’re not stopping anytime soon.
