On Wednesday morning, a couple of hours before the ICE shooting in Minneapolis, I filmed a video that was mostly about a scathing new report on Walz fraud, which I’ll get to in a moment.

But in the video I also briefly talked about how anti-law enforcement rhetoric, especially from notable public figures, and Minnesota not cooperating with ICE creates dangerous situations. Unfortunately, we saw the worst outcome of that danger later that day. When leaders like Gov. Walz and Mayor Frey insist on inflaming tensions and disparaging law enforcement it makes us all less safe. When they talk about being at war with the federal government, it makes us less safe.

Moving forward I hope everyone can keep cooler heads in those intense situations and protests can remain peaceful and unobstructive, so we don’t have more violence… but I can’t say I am optimistic.

A new audit from the Office of the Legislative Auditor uncovered even more troubling conduct from Tim Walz’s Department of Human Services.

Auditors found, among other things, that DHS’s Behavioral Health Administration falsified documents, creating and backdating paperwork after the audit had already begun. The auditor said she had never seen anything like it in her 27 years on the job.

The audit reviewed more than $425 million in mental health and substance abuse grants and found widespread failures, including falsified records, missing records, undocumented oversight visits, and weak internal controls.

In one case, DHS approved a $670,000 payment with no supporting documentation, and the state employee who approved it later went to work for the organization that received the money.

It is another sign that fraud and mismanagement are deeply ingrained in the Walz administration. I believe Governor Walz and AG Ellison need to resign from office.
