Dear John,
Now that we’re a few days into the new year, we wanted to reach out and say thank you.
Over the past year, your support helped the Nonhuman Rights Project continue our critical work: challenging an archaic legal status quo that views nonhuman animals as mere property, and pushing for the courts to recognize their fundamental rights.
This kind of change does not happen quickly. Legal precedent is built case by case. What makes progress possible is sustained effort and a community of people willing to stand behind that effort, even when the work is demanding and incremental.
Last year, your support helped us challenge this status quo in places like California, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, where we continued pressing the courts to recognize nonhuman animals as more than property.
As we look ahead, we know that our fight for the recognition and protection of nonhuman rights is far from finished, but it is moving forward—because of you.
Thank you, John, for being an essential part of this movement—for standing with the NhRP, with our clients, and for all autonomous nonhuman beings whose freedom is as important to them as ours is to us.
With gratitude,
The NhRP
