Tax season is coming up! As you prepare to file your tax return, I’d like to highlight one of the tools available to you:

By checking a box to share your tax information with the Maryland Health Connection, Maryland’s health insurance marketplace, you can easily receive additional resources on low-cost insurance options available through the state.

Here’s how it works:

1. After you check the box and file your taxes, our agents at the Comptroller's office send your contact information to the Maryland Health Connection, which can use the information you provided to determine the plans you are eligible for.


2. Then, you should receive more information in the mail about the plans you are eligible for and key details, including deadlines to sign up.


3. After that, you have 35 days to sign up for the healthcare plan of your choice.

With insurance costs rising and spiking premiums as federal subsidies expire, it’s one of our priorities that Marylanders in need of healthcare know about all the tools available to them. This is one easy step you can take while filing your taxes to explore your options!
