Rick and Andrew are back after a few weeks off for the holidays and, well, because everyone needs a break.
But they return to a world on fire. It’s been a week (almost) since Donald Trump invaded Venezuela and arrested its president. In a normal world, taking this kind of action without even notifying Congress would have led to intense investigations, hearings, outrage, and on and on.
But then … Minneapolis.
Tell Congress to take action on ICE
Trump is delivering violence to the world — and to Americans — whether we like it or not (we don’t). And while immigration and Venezuelan democracy are primary targets for Trump’s energy, the rest of us are terrified of inflation, joblessness, and our own increasingly small share of this economy.
Combined, inflation/prices & jobs and the economy are the top issues for nearly half of Americans. Immigration? Less than 10%.
Look. Even if Trump’s actions came from the purest, most democracy-loving, America-celebrating place, those actions stink. And that rancid odor is showing in the polling.
Trump is losing the game, but it’s not clear that Democrats are yet willing to win it.
