Over two-thirds of Americans oppose war in Venezuela — because they don’t want Iraq 2.0.

The American people rejected the war in Iraq, and they’re rejecting this one too. They don’t want another endless war. They don’t want senseless death. They don’t want our troops put in harm’s way. And they don’t want a president dragging this country into war to seize another nation’s oil.

But that is exactly what Donald Trump is trying to do in Venezuela.

Yesterday, the Senate took the first step to stop him. 52 Senators, including 5 Republicans, stood up to Donald Trump and voted to advance a War Powers resolution to block Trump from using U.S. armed forces in Venezuela.

Now this fight comes to the House.

When it does, I want you to know this: I will vote to block Trump’s abuse of power and stop him from launching a war in Venezuela.

I will work with my colleagues and do everything in my power to make sure the will of the American people — not one man’s authoritarian instincts — is heard.

As long as I am in Congress, I will continue this fight for democracy, against reckless war, and against Trump’s authoritarianism. And I hope you will stand with me.
