CLASP Abhors ICE Shooting in Minneapolis and Condemns HHS Funding Cuts to Children and Families in Five States

CLASP released several statements this week in response to a fatal ICE shooting in Minneapolis and new threats from the Trump Administration to funding for programs that serve children and families:

• ICE Agent Fatally Shoots Woman in Minneapolis
  CLASP condemns the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old woman by an ICE agent in Minneapolis and calls on Congress as well as state and local officials to hold the agency and administration accountable for the harm they have caused.
• Child Care Providers Across Many States Attacked by “Influencers”; HHS Response Threatens Access for Children and Families
  Recently, a spate of “influencers” accusing child care centers of fraud has caused the Department of Health and Human Services to freeze federal child care funding in Minnesota. CLASP’s statement highlights the confusion and harm these politically motivated actions will have on children, families, and providers across the country.
• Freezing $10 Billion in Federal Funding Will Harm Children and Families
  CLASP’s statement on the administration’s announcement to withhold funding for programs that support children and families in five blue states highlights both the illegality of this threat and the impacts the loss of funding would have on families, providers, and communities.
