On Tuesday, the People’s House returned for the second session of the 119th Congress – and House Republicans hit the ground running. As I detailed to you in last week’s newsletter, we made serious progress last year that we intend to build upon. We’re not resting on our laurels – we’re still rolling up our sleeves, putting pen to paper, and getting the job done for all Americans. Our work is far from over.

As Speaker Johnson mentioned earlier this week at a press conference, Republicans will continue to demonstrate that we are the only team capable of restoring American greatness. We don’t harp about it day after day – we put in the work and get things done. While Washington Democrats champion policies that make life less affordable for Americans, and policies that put America LAST, Republicans are the ones advancing commonsense legislation that moves the country in the right direction. Speaking of which, this week, House Republicans passed several pieces of legislation that work to restore consumer choice, increase housing affordability for the American people, and to fund critical priorities that span the entire nation:

H.R 4593, the Saving Homeowners from Overregulation With Exceptional Rinsing Act.

H.R. 5184, the Affordable Housing Over Mandating Efficiency Standards Act.

H.R. 6938, the Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Act, 2026.

I’m very much looking forward to the wins that our Republican majority will secure this year for the hardworking taxpayers and families across our nation. As I’ve mentioned to you previously, Republicans won’t be deterred by the avalanche of mistruths and distractions ginned up by Washington Democrats and those in the media. Our work will continue.

Exposing Massive Fraud

This week, the House Oversight Committee held a meeting entitled Oversight of Fraud and Misuse of Federal Funds in Minnesota. Under Governor Tim Walz’s watch, criminals in Minnesota have been fraudulently siphoning off taxpayer dollars at an eye-popping scale. You may recall my subpoenaing of Governor Walz just last year and confronting him on the massive fraud scandal at Feeding Our Futures, the largest COVID fraud scheme in the entire nation. This is a massive issue, and one that I have been hot on the trail of for very long time. I look forward to updating you further on my efforts on the Committee to expose this fraud and holding Minnesota’s spineless public officials accountable for their egregious dereliction of duty.

A Piece of American History

This year will mark America’s 250th anniversary – a substantial milestone that we will all celebrate. In case you missed it, to kick off the new year, there was a brilliant digital display cast upon the Washington Monument that highlighted pivotal moments from our nation’s history. Thousands of people from Virginia and D.C. came to view the display, and to watch a fireworks presentation that followed. This year will be one that all of us remember, and it will be a momentous celebration of how far our nation has come, and the strides that we will continue to make.
