Coronavirus update
Please remember that, although lockdown restrictions are gradually being lifted, Coronavirus is still circulating throughout Oldham and can spread rapidly if precautions are not taken. We all have a role to play in preventing this, and keeping ourselves and our families safe.

Please ensure you continue to reduce unnecessary contact with other people; maintain social distancing; and wear a mask if visiting shops or using public transport.

It’s also really important that we all know what to do if you, or someone you know, has symptoms of Coronavirus or tests positive. For up to date information, click here

2020 events
We’re sorry to announce that, our plans for large-scale events this autumn and winter have been reviewed in light of Coronavirus, and on the basis of public safety, it has been decided that events such as the annual bonfire, Christmas light switch-on, reindeer parade and Brass Monkeys will not go ahead.

However, this does not mean the fun is cancelled. We’re working up other options for activities over Bonfire Night and the festive period, so that we can still celebrate together. If you have any ideas on how we might do this while keeping safe please share them with us on Facebook or Twitter.

Clean Air consultation
This October, Greater Manchester is planning to launch an eight-week consultation on plans for a Clean Air Zone to improve air quality on local roads across our region. This would mean that the most polluting commercial vehicles would have to pay a charge to travel in the Zone. At the same time, GM is working with government to secure funding to help the region’s people and businesses switch to cleaner vehicles and avoid a charge. Find out more here.

SOS Oldham

The COVID-19 outbreak has and is still placing massive pressure on services provided by both Oldham Council and the NHS. Despite further government funding being announced, it is not enough to fully support Oldham residents.

So, we are relying on you to sign our letter to the government to petition for fairer funding as a way of saying thank you to those who have worked tirelessly to look after others such as care workers, waste disposal teams, emergency helpline operators and more.

Please sign our letter here. Thank you.
