Folks,
Yesterday, ICE committed an unspeakable act of violence on our streets —
shooting and killing a mother in South Minneapolis. Renee Good should
still be alive right now.
My heart breaks for her family. I want to offer my condolences to her wife
and son, and encourage everyone to hug their loved ones a little tighter
tonight and support their family in any way you can.
Let’s be clear: ICE needs to immediately leave Minnesota — before more
people are hurt. They have proven over and over that their presence only
makes us less safe.
They have detained US citizens and thrown people into the backs of
unmarked vans. They have deployed chemical agents at our schools. Now,
they have killed someone, and a family is missing a loved one.
Renee Good’s family, and our entire community deserve to know the truth
about what happened and that means a full, independent, and transparent
investigation by state and local law enforcement.
Please, [ [link removed] ]call your federal representatives and urge them to demand that
the FBI cooperate with state and local officials here in Minnesota. Our
voices matter.
In the face of their violence, let us remain peaceful, calm, and united.
Minnesotans will not allow Trump to turn our communities into war zones.
Non-violent resistance is the best way to respond. That’s what we saw last
night, and I know Minnesotans will continue to make their voices heard
through peaceful protest.
Finally, I’m sharing local resources for Minnesotans. Folks can learn more
about their rights and how to stand up for our immigrant neighbors, who
need our support now more than ever.
