There’s no way to say this nicely—the chicken industry is boiling birds alive.

We’re urgently calling for an end to “live-shackle slaughter”—a horrific and archaic practice that leads to more suffering than any other slaughter method. Will you join us?

I wish I could say that the threat of being boiled alive was the only reason we’ve had to launch this critical new campaign. But sadly, the abuses of live-shackle slaughter are many and varied. It begins with chickens’ legs being jammed into metal shackles attached to a fast-moving conveyor belt. As birds hang painfully upside down, barely able to breathe, and many with broken legs—they are led through a series of nightmarish contraptions designed to knock them out, cut their throats, and then boil off their feathers. Except, it doesn’t always “work”. This brutal system is notorious for failing to stun animals unconscious, forcing countless birds to endure these tortures while filled with fear, pain, and terror.

Every day that this is allowed to continue, more than 1,000 birds die from being forcefully submerged in tanks of scalding water. Millions more suffer from having their throats cut while fully conscious. We can’t let this go on.

I’m calling on you today because I know you’ll agree that chickens deserve better. Together we can show the chicken industry that live-shackle slaughter must end.
