A few hours ago, Gavin Newsom delivered the State of the State address. In previous years, he was too embarrassed to even show up to give the speech. But today, he stood in the Assembly Chamber and boldly declared that California “leads the nation.”
I just gave my response to his State of the State from the House Floor. For once, Newsom is right. California has led the nation during his tenure – in homelessness, unemployment, poverty, illiteracy, gas prices, electricity costs, debt, and outmigration. That is the true state of our state.
California also, of course, leads the nation in fraud. For instance, it’s been 5 years since the State Auditor found Newsom allowed $32 billion in unemployment fraud after ignoring "repeated warnings." Yet the Auditor just found that billions in EDD fraud continues to this day.
Minnesota's fraud scandals have just ended Tim Walz's political career. California's should likewise end Gavin Newsom's. As I explained on Fox, the fraud in California far surpasses anything in Minnesota; I am working on an audit to expose the full extent of it.
And yesterday, the House Judiciary Committee released the report I requested on the LA FireAid concert. Among the findings: FireAid funds were used for activities such as voter participation initiatives, podcast programming, fungus-planting projects, and compensation for nonprofit staff.
Meanwhile, following the capture of Maduro, I noted on CNNthat even the Biden Administration offered a $25 million reward for Maduro's arrest. That arrest has now been executed and he will face justice. American and the entire Western Hemisphere are better off.
Finally, a proposed "wealth tax" is already causing an exodus from California. It turns out people would rather not have the government seize their assets simply to create a bigger pot of money for fraud, waste, and corruption. I’m working on legislation to stop this insane proposal.
