Federal judge disqualifies fifth Trump-appointed acting U.S. attorney

- A federal judge ruled ([link removed] ) John Sarcone, acting U.S. attorney for the Northern District of New York, has been serving unlawfully for months. Sarcone played a role in building the administration’s bogus case against New York Attorney General Letitia James (D).

- The decision makes him the fifth Trump-appointed acting U.S. attorney deemed illegitimate by the federal courts during the president’s second term.

Kentucky’s voting rights restoration order challenged for leaving some behind

- A Kentucky resident sued ([link removed] ) the state over an executive order restoring voting rights to Kentuckians convicted of certain state felonies. The plaintiff argues the order violates the state constitution by excluding those with out-of-state convictions.

- Kentucky is the only state in the country that categorically denies automatic voting rights restoration to people convicted of felonies in other jurisdictions. As a result, many Kentuckians remain disenfranchised even though they would be eligible to vote if they had been convicted of the same conduct in Kentucky.
