Hi John,

We wanted you to know about a critical development in the fight to protect the Boundary Waters.

According to Reuters [[link removed]] , steps have been taken to use the Congressional Review Act to overturn the Boundary Waters mining ban , which could trigger a fast-track vote in the U.S. Congress. Reuters reports that, “If approved by the parliamentarian, which is expected by Friday, Congress would have 60 days to approve or reject the plan with a simple majority. That vote would not be subject to a filibuster.”

This maneuver, backed by Rep. Pete Stauber, is an unprecedented attempt to force a foreign-owned copper mining project into the headwaters of America’s most visited Wilderness.
Save the Boundary Waters is actively monitoring this situation in Washington, DC. We are tracking developments closely, engaging with allies, and preparing to respond as this process unfolds.

Join us for a webinar next week where we'll break down what's happening, what the timeline looks like, and how we're working to defend permanent protections for the Boundary Waters.
