Over 140,000 Americans are now dead of COVID-19. Cases continue to spike around the country. And after months of trying to downplay the crisis, President Trump held his first briefing on the pandemic since April in a belated attempt to look presidential.
But he didn’t invite America’s top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci.
In fact, he didn’t invite any of the public health experts who make up the White House Coronavirus Task Force.
Our president insists on muzzling Dr. Fauci and other top public officials -- even as this crisis spirals out of control.
Trump has tried to blame Fauci for the growing outbreak and considers him an “alarmist” for his frank warnings about the virus.
Yet perhaps Fauci sees what we see -- a president incapable of effectively leading a response to this crisis.
