John,

We need you to take action right now.
UnitedHealthcare has announced plans that could result in up to one million people losing their Medicare Advantage coverage as the company exits plans, reduces benefits, or withdraws from communities across the country.
This didn’t happen in a vacuum and they aren’t race-neutral.
It happened because Republican lawmakers refused to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits and weakened consumer protections creating political conditions that reward insurers for cutting people off instead of caring for them.
When corporations are allowed to prioritize profit without consequences, coverage instability isn’t a mistake. It’s the system working exactly as designed because healthcare instability is not race-neutral.
Black seniors are more likely to rely on Medicare Advantage for affordable care, prescription coverage, and supplemental benefits not covered by traditional Medicare. They are also more likely to live with chronic health conditions, depend on fixed incomes, and reside in communities with fewer healthcare providers.
When a massive insurer destabilizes coverage without transparency or safeguards, Black seniors and other vulnerable communities are hit first and hardest.
Demand Accountability from UnitedHealthcare Now
When a company like UnitedHealthcare exits plans, reduces benefits, or drops coverage without transparency or safeguards, Black seniors absorb the harm first that shows up as Interrupted care, Medical debt, Preventable illness becoming life threatening, and Premature death.
When insurers destabilize coverage, Black seniors pay the highest price. UnitedHealthcare should not use Black seniors as collateral damage.
UnitedHealthcare made a corporate decision but they did so without risk, knowing the system would protect them.
They created the conditions through political contributions and monopolizing tax payer dollars that has made federal and state oversight weak. Manifested an environment that emphasizes the clear lack of consumer protections which gives uneven leverage to large companies like UnitedHealthcare.
They ripped one million seniors from care without any requirement to ensure continuity of care for high-need communities without regulators batting an eye. When corporations are allowed to walk away from patients without explanation, or transition plans, they are effectively deciding whose lives are worth protecting. And they need to be held accountable.
Healthcare corporations must not be allowed to quietly destabilize care for millions because Black seniors already face higher health risks and fewer alternatives.
At Color Of Change, we are demanding corporate accountability and we need you with us.
We demand that UnitedHealthcare provides full transparency about coverage decisions and plan exits. Because Black seniors are at higher risk for harm UnitedHealthcare needs to provide guaranteed continuity of care for seniors and people with chronic conditions. By meeting these demands, Protection for High-Need Communities, including Black seniors, will be achieved.
Eliminating One million seniors from receiving life saving care, prescriptions, and creating a barrier to access for seniors across the nation was simply too easy. UnitedHealthcare should be required to hire an independent oversight and accountability team to ensure this does not happen without the notice of the people but that can only be realized when we fight for stronger consumer protections so coverage can’t disappear overnight
If you believe corporations should not be allowed to gamble with Black lives in silence, take action now.

These decisions are being made behind closed doors and silence is what they’re counting on.
When we organize, apply pressure, and stay engaged, we can force change.
