Rep. Jordan Header
Dear Neighbors,
I’m so incredibly sorry to be sending this update. I wish I was talking about the success of Minnesota’s new Paid Leave program, the laws that went into effect on January 1st, or the ways we can work together for the upcoming legislative session. I will talk about those things in the near future, but for now I want to encourage you all to stay safe and know your rights as our city once again grapples with an incredibly dark cloud over our heads brought on by ICE and the Trump administration.
Renee Nicole Good should still be alive today, but yesterday she was shot and killed by ICE agents in Minneapolis [ [link removed] ]. I joined my House Minneapolis Delegation colleagues in releasing this statement:
Minneapolis Delegation Statement
For whatever reason, the full force of the federal government has been unjustly focused on our communities and immigrant neighbors these last few months. Even in the wake of yesterday’s deadly tragedy, it doesn’t seem like it will lessen anytime soon.
Last night, thousands gathered at the site where Renee was killed, and it was indicative of how powerful and comforting community can be. There will be more opportunities to gather, mourn, raise our voices, and peacefully protest - when doing so I encourage you to stay safe and know your rights. Below are resources to familiarize yourself with, as well as connections to community organizations that are providing important training opportunities.

Our city is no stranger to challenging times. I wish that wasn’t the case, but I do know we get through times like these by looking out for one another. I’ve seen neighbors help each other time and again, and I know in the days ahead I will see the same.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with concerns or questions. You can contact me at

In solidarity,
Sydney Jordan
