DECEMBER 2025
|
Dear Friend,
Just days into the new year, the U.S. military, directed by the reckless Trump regime, attacked Venezuela’s capital and kidnapped its president and his wife. This attack killed at least 80 people. And just yesterday, an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Good in Minneapolis.
Let's be clear: This is about control, power, and profit, plain and simple.
And it's about oil. Venezuela holds one-fifth of the world’s proven crude oil reserves. By attacking Venezuela, the Trump regime is positioning wealthy, powerful men in the U.S. to profit from Venezuela’s oil at the expense of Venezuelan lives and sovereignty — the latest in a long history of U.S. imperialism. And the Trump regime has made its intentions crystal clear. Yesterday, the energy secretary declared that the U.S. intends to oversee the sale of the country's oil production "indefinitely."
From terrorizing U.S. cities with ICE agents to deploying the military for oil abroad, these brazen, violent acts are straight out of the authoritarian playbook: repress dissent and distract from unpopularity at home by starting armed conflict abroad.
The Trump regime is trying to seize our freedoms in its war to extend rule by the bullies for the billionaires. War after war has been waged to line the pockets of the same corporations that fuel the climate crisis, destroy communities, and poison the air, water, food, and land of this planet we call home.
But we are coming together to protect our freedoms, our families, and our futures. Here are a few ways you can fight back and say no to Trump and his Big Oil cronies:
There's no doubt things are heavy and hard right now. But here's the good news: People have been rising to challenge wannabe authoritarians and their oil-soaked corporate backers — not just in the U.S., but all around the world and in the halls of the U.N. Read on for some inspiration to help fuel the fights ahead:

Taking on Big Polluters, Big Tobacco, and tentacled corporate monsters
|
Late last year, people around the world rose up to challenge Big Polluters’ and Big Tobacco’s deadly agendas. The forums? Two international treaty meetings — one in Belém, Brazil on climate, and the other in Geneva on tobacco control. The vibe? Righteous outrage meets corporate capture meets international diplomacy. And at both the climate and tobacco treaty negotiations, Corporate Accountability partnered with allies around the globe and people like you to challenge these corporations — to protect our health, our freedoms, our communities, and the Earth we call home. Check out what that looked like in a new blog post. And don't miss the epic pictures (including the tentacled corporate monster)!

Fueling the fight to challenge corporate power
|
Throughout November and December, hundreds of people stepped up and donated to our Fueling the Fight to Challenge Corporate Power campaign. We set an ambitious goal of raising $100,000 so that we have the resources we need to keep running — and winning — long-term, strategic, lifesaving campaigns. And thanks to a generous group of donors, all gifts made to the campaign were matched, making their impact go even further. A huge thank you to everyone who helped us reach our goal, and for everything you do to power this growing movement. And if you didn't get a chance, but still want to chip in to the campaign, you can still donate now.

Reflecting on the last year of our collective impact
|
We're challenging the corporations and billionaires that are threatening our communities, livelihoods, and freedoms — including those that fueled Trump's rise to power and stand to benefit from his reckless regime. We won't let them privatize our essential resources and attack our freedoms and futures just to reap even more profit. We refuse. Backed by you, and in partnership with allies around the world, we have the strategy — and the guts — to make an impact in this moment. Learn more about what you're making possible. Check out our 2025 annual report for campaign highlights, member and ally features, and more!

Corporate Accountability stops transnational corporations from devastating democracy, trampling human rights, and destroying our planet. We are building a world rooted in justice where corporations answer to people, not the other way around -- a world where every person has access to clean water, healthy food, a safe place to live, and the opportunity to reach their full human potential.
