Hi John,
The news out of Minneapolis is horrific, as a U.S. citizen was shot and killed in an apparent homicide by ICE. But it's not the first time this has happened – since September, at least nine people have been shot by ICE, and two have died. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has minimized these events and apparently done little, if anything, to ensure impartial investigations.
ICE has a budget bigger than the military budget of nearly every country on earth, thanks to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, and less oversight than nearly any other law enforcement agency in the nation.
Regardless of your stance on immigration, no agency should have essentially unlimited funds and zero accountability.
ICE works for and is funded by us, the American people. We need to demand Congress investigate ICE abuse, including the most recent killing in Minneapolis, and provide oversight of ICE to ensure we're safe.
