Hi Friend, Happy New Year! I hope you had a good holiday or at least are looking forward to a fresh start in a new year.
As many of you know, we had our end-of-year fundraising campaign through December, with a goal of raising $12,000, and a $10,000 match from our board. With your help, we not only met the number, we smashed it. When we came back to the office on January 5, our mail contained even more gifts. Adding that, our total raised jumped from $18,383 to an astonishing $30,314. And with the board's match, that's $40,314. That amount is the equivalent of what it takes to run the blog for almost 3 months. Thank you so much!
Coming up this month: Our GGWash standing monthly happy Hour returns. This month we are cohosting with Congress for New Urbanism's Mid-Atlantic chapter. We're excited to share space and ideas with them at Sonny's on January 21.
We are also bringing a Maryland happy hour to Prince George's County on January 28. The General Assembly legislative session will soon be underway and we're itching to tell you what we've been up to.

| Join our Breakfast Links team!
Our Breakfast Links Curators kickstart each day at GGWash, working with our editors to select six to 10 engaging stories that provide a snapshot of recent local urbanist news. One of our fantastic volunteers is leaving this spring. We'd love to welcome a new volunteer to help us fill that shift starting in March. Maybe it can be you? |

Volunteer to write the next Junctions word puzzle!
Junctions is a weekly word puzzle that plays with urban and Washington region themes (examples here). Creating GGWash Junctions is fun and easy, and playing is even more fun when diverse authors with diverse brains create them! If you're interested in submitting a puzzle, email [email protected] to collaborate! We will train volunteers in a brief virtual meeting.
