SpongeBob Swimming Campaign

SpongeBob water safety

Swim England has launched an exciting new campaign in partnership with The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, designed to keep children engaged in swimming lessons while raising awareness of the vital water safety skills every child needs.

From 5 January 2026, we’ll be incorporating SpongeBob inspired swimming games into our lessons. These playful activities are designed to boost participation, build confidence in
the water and make learning even more enjoyable for your little swimmers.

With SpongeBob and friends by their side, children are guided through the four essential water safety competencies:

* Swimming 100 metres
* Treading water for 60 seconds
* Floating for 30 seconds
* Swimming in clothing

To find out more about the campaign, visit  [link removed] [ [link removed] ] or walk the plank!

The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants, is in cinemas now!

CHAIN Study - Participants Wanted
CHAIN study

Are you 50 - 65 years old and overweight? Interested in how physical activity can affect your body and the processes of healthy aging?

Life expectancy is increasing but the number of healthy, independent living years has not kept pace. The average U.K. citizen spends the last decade of their lives in poor health.

The University of Nottingham are researching the role of physical activity in the processes of health aging, with comprehensive physiological testing including:

* Cardiorespiratory fitness
* Muscle strength and function
* Molecular biology
* Metabolic health
* Cognitive function
* Wellness
* Dietary analysis
* Activity measures
* Comprehensive MRI, including:
* Fat mass
* Muscle mass
* Structural images of multiple organs

As well gaining information about your body, you will be enrolling on a supervised, individualised exercise programme aimed at increasing your fitness. You will also be contributing to UKRI funded scientific research, important to understanding the aging process to inform public health.

For more information, please message the University of Nottingham team directly, via email using [email protected]
