It would mean so much if you gather some family and friends this weekend to go see All That's Left of You [[link removed]] , directed by the talented and award winning Cherien Dabis. It opens in theaters all over the country TOMORROW, January 9th.
Jordan’s Official Submission to the Academy Awards, the film spans seven decades, highlighting the story of Palestine that we know all too well but is often suppressed for “mainstream” audiences. All That’s Left of You tells the struggle of one Palestinian family's multigenerational story of hope and courage while connecting that past to the moment we are in today in the aftermath of the Gaza genocide.
As a long-time fan of Cherien’s work (I still watch Amreeka every year!), I think it best to share her own words on this since I could not have said it better myself.
At a time when Palestinian voices are being silenced more aggressively than ever, major distributors and streamers are rejecting our films outright - often out of fear. In this context, getting Palestinian stories into movie theaters right now is truly an act of resistance.
What happens now - how this film performs theatrically - sets a precedent for the future of Palestinian cinema . It helps determine whether these stories are considered worthy of space, visibility, and continued investment. Whether they are allowed to exist in the world beyond the margins.
