ICE murdered a woman in cold blood yesterday, John.
The victim was Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old woman at a protest in response to the unprecedented deployment of 2,000 ICE agents in the Minneapolis area.
While Donald Trump, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, and every other Republican in office fall in line to falsely claim the ICE officer shot this woman in self-defense, video and multiple eyewitness testimonies clearly confirm that the victim was driving away when she was shot point-blank in the face through her car’s windshield – three times. They killed a woman scared for her life in cold blood, and are pushing blatant lies to justify it.
There is no excuse or justification for this gestapo terrorizing our communities.
If ICE didn’t exist and hadn’t been in Minneapolis yesterday, Renee would still be alive today. ICE does not protect or serve our communities — it only brings violence and death.
This was not the first time ICE shot and killed someone. The Intercept reports that federal agents “shot people 14 times since last January, killing at least four; on multiple occasions, officers shot at people observing ICE raids and people attempting to drive away.”
On top of that, 31 people died in ICE custody last year, as violent arrests and human rights abuses in detention centers have skyrocketed since Trump returned to office.
ICE is a menace to our communities, no matter your race or immigration status, and it must be stopped and held accountable for the murders and harm it has caused.
